Again, AKHA Approves Udom’s request to secure N1.9 billion loan facility

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today has  granted approval for the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel to secure N1.918.783.79 loan facility which it said is to enable the State government pay its counterpart funding of Federal Government Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme.

After the lawmakers had unanimously spoken in favour of the loan facility to be granted, the House Leader, Rt Hon Udo Kieran and his Deputy Hon Aniekan Bassey respectively moved a motion for the House to issue a resolution granting the approval.
While granting the approval, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke ordered the Clerk to communicate the resolution granted to relevant authority.

In the same vein, the State lawmakers in the plenary on Thursday issued a resolution for what it described as an  irrevocable letter of guarantee to the Federal Mnister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, for Akwa Ibom State Government to participate in the Federal Government fertilizer programme of 600,000 bags amounting N5500 per bag and totalling N3.3billiion.

Speaking on the request, the Member Representing Nsit Atai State Constituency, Hon Mark Esset noted that the request to guarantee the State’s participation in the fertilizer programme was a step in the right direction as that will boost food production in the State.

For Member, Mbo State Constituency, Hon Samuel Ufuo the Fertilizer programme will help the agricultural sector to thrive in the State with the aim of providing raw materials for that will be used to support the industrialization drive of the State Government.

According to Member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency, “the nation is moving from oil to agriculture and this is a movement in the right direction. With this request, the Akwa Ibom State Government are standing in the gab that the money that would be sold will be refunded”.

The State Lawmakers stressed that both facilities granted is for the best interest of the State.

it could be recalled that the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has recently  been giving approval to the State Government to guarantee loan facilities ranging from construction of roads to agriculture.
