By Ekemini Simon

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly will today Friday, 12th January 2018 inspect the level of construction in connection with the funds allocated for the construction of the Controversial Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge in Lagos.

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly made the plan known on Wednesday when he went on inspection with the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation and Finance to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.

The speaker noted that the House was interested in inspecting the project so that they can be better informed to answer questions asked them by Akwa Ibom people thus also help them with insight on the appropriation needed for the project.

He said that Akwa Ibom people have the right to ask questions on how their funds are spent and they in government will be ready to give answers.

It could be recalled that when the budget estimates for the project had appeared in the supplementary budget of 2017, Akwa Ibom people called for the project not to be carried out and the call resulted in the first ever streets protest the State has ever experienced.

Information gathered has it that the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel had ignored the call and went on with the project as the construction is at advanced stage.
