Akwa Ibom has the best Gas Pipeline Network in Nigeria- Ufot Ebong

Ufot Ebong

The Senior Special As
sistant to Governor
Udom Emmanuel on Technical Matters and Due Process Elder Ufot Ebong has affirmed that Akwa Ibom State is the first and only state in Nigeria to have an all round gas pipeline network.
He made the statement during a media parley with journalists in his office on Wednesday, 11th February 2016 while still basking in the euphoria of the Udom Emmanuel Supreme Court Victory.
Speaking, Elder Ebong thanked God for his boss, whom he described as man driven by achievement. He stated that being appointed by the Governor to head the office of due process under his administration is the ‘Greatest Honour’ done on him, as it saddles him with the responsibility of ensuring that everything government budgets for is duly expended and delivered.
In his words ‘ this bureau does not carry out any project …Just monitoring.
The nature of my job sees my going around to see current status of all projects and report same to the Governor. For instance, I can speak categorically about Ibom Sea Port which will be the ‘Biggest Shipping hub in the Gulf of Guinea’, capable of handling Transshipment. But we must note that it will be completed in phases. 2018 has been set by the Governor for the completion of the first phase’. He also spoke on Akwa Ibom Employment & Enterprise Scheme (AKEES), saying AKEES is the Governor’s Pet Project. ‘I hear there are rumors that it cost N5b ( five billion naira). That is a big joke. Governor Udom Emmanuel understands the need to reawaken the spirit of enterprise in our youths, that he hopes to achieve with AKEES, especially with the dwindling oil price, we should consider alternative income generating sources for our economy’.
As I speak, about 1, 022 Akwa Ibom Youths are gainfully employed already, by the time this first phase is done with, about 10, 000 youths will be employed. In the aspect of the Enterprise development, AKEES is creating Community Facility Centers to enhance and increase production of existing small businesses’.
Talking about a project embarked on by his office, the Geologist with approximately three decades of experience with multinationals like Shell Petroleum promised to ensure transparency in government with the pursuit of a bill which will check and balance government expenditure. ‘I am pushing The Public Procurement Bill, which when passed, will help government to get value for money spent. It will enhance transparency and check corruption’ he said.
In conclusion, he assured that in 3 years, he sees an Akwa Ibom where politics will no longer be lucrative, because the politicians will be looking around for followers (youths) but the youths will be occupied with the jobs created by industries Governor Udom Emmanuel is building.
