The Ad hoc Committee of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly investigating the Newspaper publications of beneficiaries of Anchor Poultry Borrowers has issued a warrant of arrest on the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong.
The action of the lawmakers came on the heels of the failure of the governor’s close aide to appear before the probe panel during the 2-day sitting.
Mr. Ebong who is in Morocco for an official assignment at the International Conference on Climate Change had sent a letter of exemption but the committee threw it out, describing it as act of truancy and insubordination.
The letter was marked ‘Rejected’ and expunged.
It could be recalled that the AKHA had yesterday threatened to order Ufot Ebong to be arrested and brought before the committee if he fails to show up in today’s session.
Those who testified on oath in today’s session were Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media Meflyn Anwana, Immediate Past Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Nathan Ekaette, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh and Austin Ndaeyo who is the Consultant, New face of Agriculture and Facilitator of the Anchor Poultry Borrowers Scheme, and others.
