Breaking: AKHA extends tenure of transition committees

Governor Emmanuel sent a request to the house to empower him to constitute TCs

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, on Friday, approved the request of Governor Udom Emmanuel to constitute new transition committees for the 31 Local Government Areas in the state. Passing the resolution, the Assembly empowered the governor to constitute new transition committees whose tenures will not exceed 6months.

The tenure of the current transition committees is due to elapse on Monday, July 3, 2017. The governor is expected to constitute new committees for Itu and Ukanafun LGAs that were earlier disbanded while rejigging the committees in the remaining 29 LGAs.

TheMail Newspaper learnt on good authority that some performing council heads are expected to make the list again. Local Government elections are billed to hold on November 11, 2017 and winners of the elections are expected to be sworn-in in December, 2017.
