The apex socio-political group in Ikot Ekpene Local Government, Ikot Ekpene Youth Leadership, has summoned the immediate past Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr. Etido Inyang, to give account of his nine and a half years of stewardship in government.
For allegedly insulting the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, the group vehemently demanded an Apology Letter that will be published in five National Dailies for insulting and betraying Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, our Senator and Leader.
In a release signed by its Leader, Secretary General and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Leo Leo Umana, Kufre Inima and Barrister Ndifreke Peters, the group frowned at a statement credited to Engr. Etido Inyang, who said “Senator Godswill Akpabio is not God, with or without him, I will still be appointed a Commissioner.” This is the height of ingratitude, disloyalty to the man and the family that brought him from Port Harcourt to give him appointments, empower him and made him have a face and voice in the state.
“People of Ikot Ekpene Local Government has never been known to be ungrateful and traitors, and has declared Mr Etido Inyang a persona non grata. And that failure to write and publish the apology letter shall be greatly taken as an assault to the good people of Ikot Ekpene who are very grateful to Senator Godswill Akpabio for all that God has used him to do for the first Premier Local Government in British West Africa, that had long been neglected by previous governments until the emergence of Governor Godswill Akpabio,” the group stated.
“Engr. Etido Inyang has no moral and political justification to challenge the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio in the state. After all, without Senator Godswill Akpabio, there would have been no Engr. Etido Inyang.”
The apex youth group also noted with great disdain and ignominy the appointment of Engr. Etido Inyang for nine and a half years, adding “he has not impacted on any one in the local government. There’s no son or daughter of this local government that can point to a bike or sewing machine that was bought by this former Commissioner.”
“Etido inyang is a hypocrite, who use to behave as if he love Akpabio more than God while he was still in office, because of his selfish and parochial interest but soon express his true nature of treachery immediately Akpabio left office. Thank God for Governor Udom Emmanuel who said that “true loyalty is known when the person is not in government. Etido inyang is a chameleon. He used and took advantage of the youth for nine years to remain in Government and must render account of stewardship. For Etido Inyang to have said: gone are the days they used to sit down in Akpabio’s family. That, in this is new era, is not only contemptuous but a sacrilege. We see this as a bridge of trust and confidence reposed on him by the Akpabio’s family. And we strongly condemned such frothy utterances of recklessness and its intent with utmost alacrity.”
The youth group, which thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing Dr Nse Udo Essien as Commissioner from the area, said “a date will soon be fixed for Engr Etido Inyang to address the Youths and the good people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government.
