Ikono lawmaker extends love to Ini local Government

Saturday 24, September 2016 will forever remain a day to remember in the hearts of the people of Ini Local Government Area as the Member representing Ikono State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Udofia flagged-off the construction of a 4 kilometre road in the area.

It is a glaring fact that Ini Local Government, right from inception has not had it all good when it comes to road network, not until recently when Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration flagged off the construction of a 17.4km road that leads to the proposed rice mill farm.

Over the weekend, Hon. Udofia flaged-off the construction a 4km road which trespasses Mbiabng Ikot Udofia, Ikot Etim and Nkari group of villages for the betterment of citizens of the area.

While giving his speech, the lawmaker who doubles as the chairman, House Committee on Security, Youth and Sports, thanked His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for implementing his campaign promises in Ini Local Government and assured him of their maximum support throughout his tenure.

The Ikono born politician noted that the youths of the area will be employed in the road construction project which is handled by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his timely appointment of Mr. Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission.

ikono-road“I will not fail to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit to appoint our great son, Mr Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of NDDC and believing that being exposed in governmental agencies and as past deputy governor, there is hope that he will deliver positively”.

On his part, the paramount ruler of Ini local Government Area, His Royal Highness, Nteong Udo Effiong Akpan thanked the lawmaker for extending a hand of friendship to the people of Ini local Government adding that; “Anything that is good for Ikono is also good for Ini”, while praying God to give him more grace to sustain this heart of kindness to the people of the area.

Also speaking, the member representing Ini in the sixth Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong commended his Ikono counterpart for this show of love while calling on the people of the area to continue living in peace and harmony as only peace can bring progress.

He maintained that no matter how great a man is he can never be greater than his people.

In his response, Hon. Udofia thanked the sons and daughters of Ini and Ikono and the traditional rulers for coming out en-mass to receive and support government infrastructures.

He also paid glowing tributes to the Speaker of the Sixth Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke for re-appointing him as the chairman, House Committee on Security, Youth and Sports.

“It is a great privilege given to me and I will not let down the House of Assembly and the Youths of Akwa Ibom State”.

He therefore re-assured the people of Ini local Government that he will do any positive thing within his power as his contribution to the development of the area.

In attendance were; Deputy Speaker of the sixth Assembly, Hon. Felicia Bassey; Member representing Ibiono, Barr. Ime Okon; Member Representing Eket; Hon. David Lawrance ; Commissioner for Women Affairs; Dr.Glory Edet; Member representing Ini, Hon. Emmannuel Ekpenyong  among several other dignitaries.
