The leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Akwa Ibom State has sued for a cordial relationship with journalists in the state.

The plea was handed down by the Chairman of the forum, Hon. Martins Inyang, when he led members of his organisation to a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Elder Patrick Albert, at the union’s secretariat in Uyo.

Hon. Inyang, who is the state chairman of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), noted that his organization will strive to earn positive publicity from the media in the state.

While commending journalists in the state for making the media industry very vibrant, the IPAC boss urged them to maintain excellence and avoid engaging in tendencies like character assassination.

Inyang further promised that IPAC under his stewardship will always represent sound democratic ideals as well as eschew antics likely to hinder the purpose of nurturing Nigeria’s nascent democracy and called on the media to always promote the proper democratic culture.

He poured encomiums on the Chairman of NUJ for achieving a lot for the union and proving to be a leader with a midas touch.

Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert said the visit of IPAC is timely and appropriate, saying it underlines the confidence which the organization has in the union.

Albert who promised that the union has hearken to the call for a cordial relationship with IPAC, urged IPAC to be an organization devoid of antics capable of attracting negative publicity.

He wished the newly elected IPAC Chairman and members of his cabinet a successful tenure.
