try, Mr David Sergeant, on Monday, said he is grateful with the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for appointing a capable and well schooled professional, as the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.
The Governor’s aide stressed that, he is “grateful to God for the fact that the Culture and Tourism sector, which Entertainment Industry falls under, has a worthy Commissioner, who is seriously schooled in the norms and doctrines of cultural promotion and development”, expressing optimism that with the man, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, at the helm of affairs in the Ministry, the Governor can just go to bed with his eyes closed, knowing that he has a tested, trusted and can-do Commissioner.
Mr Sergeant, popularly called Utang Akwa Ibom made the remark during a familiarization visit to the Ministry, at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, in Uyo, the State capital.
The Entertainment Industry Special Assistant, who was accompanied by the SA on Project Monitoring, Godfada Uko, himself a gospel artiste as well as a member of the UNIK crew, further shed light on the primary purpose of his visit, that, it was to familiarize and cement the already existing camaraderie between them.
The Governor’s aide who informed the commissioner that, Mr Udom Emmanuel, is the first Governor in the State “to show this rare magnanimity to the Entertainers in Akwa Ibom by creating an office for them”, said members of the Entertainment Industry have pledged their total support to Governor Emmanuel, in other to reciprocate the honour done them.
Utang Akwa Ibom who hinted the Commissioner that, so far, a good number of Entertainers and Artistes in the State, have presented good ideas that would contribute in uplifting the socio-economic and political status of the State, pledged their resolve in the industry to reduce the rate of unemployment among

youths in the State.
Responding, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, expressed his delight and gratitude to the SA, and also congratulated him on his appointment as the pioneer Special Assistant on Entertainment Industry. The Commissioner who extolled the talent, consistency and humble disposition of the new SA, expressing optimism that  Mr Sergeant would make the Governor and his members proud.
Otuekong Ibiok reminded the people that Akwa Ibom State under the able leadership of Mr Udom Emmanuel, has been repackaged to a showpiece of delectable delivery and attracts in large numbers, applauding Mr Sergeant for his foresight to align the industry with the 5 point agenda of the governor which is 2 create wealth and job opportunities.
He observed that Akwa Ibom has become a tourist paradise, an aviation hub, a maritime yard, an events cynosure, a big relaxation spot, and a knowledge factory.
The Commissioner who sued for the cooperation of the SA Entertainment, charged him to join his idea so that they could put together and create cultural activities in the ministry to create impact and make Akwa Ibom a tourist site for the outside world.
“With what His Excellency has put on ground in the State, our target now is to make Akwa Ibom, a-one stop State for Entertainment”, said the Commissioner.
Present at the visit were Staff of the Ministry, 4 Directors of the ministry, Senior Special Assistant and Personal Assistant to Governor on Culture, Tourism Directors, including; Mr John B. Offiong.
The new SA and his colleagues were later taken to various offices and departments in the Ministry.
