A fierce critic of the then Governor Godswill Akpabio administration in Akwa Ibom, Ikpafak Thompson Essien has blasted the immediate past Commissioner for Transport, Prince (Dr) Godwin Ntukudeh for accepting an appointment as Chairman of board for Akwa Ibom State Road Maintenance Agency, calling the Ph.D holder “stark illiterate” and “deadwood”.
He said there is no reason for Ntukudeh to continue to be in power as he is socially unfit to hold any public office.
“I will continue to support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“But as long as he continues to recycle dead woods, such as Godwin Ntuhudeh and Uwem Ita Etuk, Akwa Ibom will continue to crawl rather than begin to run.
“These dead woods have been at the center of Akwa Ibom politics since 2007. During this time period, Akwa Ibom deteriorated from a once peaceful place to a stage of fear where kidnappings, assassinations, murder, armed robbery, and rape were daily occurrences.
“Someone like Godwin Ntuhude has no reason to be in the corridor of power. The man is a stalk illiterate, socially unfit to lead any community, and when he talks, he is so loud and irrational to a point where one may think he might have come out of a mental hospital.
“What can a person like Ntuhude offer AKS that a vibrant young, able, and able young man or woman cannot?”, the US based critic made his position known via the social media.
However, former Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwem Udoma rebuked Ikpafak Essien, saying it was wrong for him to describe an academic doctor as stark illiterate.
“This Mr. Thompson’s piece is an expression taken too far. How can someone who has read up to (ph.D) level be described as stark illiterate, or is it only those who schooled abroad that are classified (Educated). I find his expression as being out of place. If he has any issue with Ntukudeh, he should find other ways to settle it”, the former Special Assistant to the Ag. MD/CEO of NDDC said.
Essien didn’t allow it to lie low, challenging Ntukudeh who is a former International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio to make known his dissertation topic to the public.
“My response to you is PhD my foot. Let Ntukudeh tell us about his dissertation topic and I will tell you that the man is a liar; he has no, has never got it, and will never have any PhD”, said Essien who is now a supporter of the present administration of Udom Emmanuel.
As reported on TheMail today, the Governor Emmanuel had announced the constitution of two new boards in the state with former Commissioners Godwin Ntukudeh and Uwem Ita Etuk heading the board for Akwa Ibom State Road Maintenance Agency and Akwa Ibom Water Company Limited respectively.
The appointments raised eyebrows as members of the public saw it as demotion having already served as commissioners while expressing their displeasure with what they called “recycling”.
