Breaking: Akpabio defeats Yari to emerge Senate President

Sen. Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has defeated Sen. Abdullazeez Yari of Zamfara State to emerge President of the Nigerian Senate.

The keenly contested election took place on Tuesday morning with Akpabio emerging victorious having amassed the highest number of votes cast by the senators.

Godswill Akpabio scored 63 votes out of 109 and was declared and retuned as President of the senate.
