The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Young Democratic Party in the 2019 election and proponent of Social Governance Ideology has said that Governor Udom Emmanuel should have invited the 2019 Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Obong Nsima Ekere into the Post Covid-19 Economic Reconstruction Committee.
Arc Nya-Etok made his thought known during a recent conversation tagged ” Democracy Day Social Media Convo” with Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom (COOPA).
He noted that for robust contribution towards the uplift of the State, especially during the challenging period of COVID-19, it would have been very important for the State Governor to invite Obong Nsima Ekere among other two gubernatorial candidates to share their ideas on the plan they had for the State.
Nya-Etok noted “We were only four candidates in the last election. There is no way we should not have been part of the Post COVID-19 Economic Reconstruction Committee. Let us be the ones to turn it down.
“Nsima Ekere should have been invited formally and officially. The Governor should have asked: “You wanted to be Governor, please can you give us your plan which you wanted to implement for the growth and advancement of the State.”
He however noted that the step by the Governor to bring together the experts he has seen in the Committee is a step towards the right direction.
The 2019 gubernatorial candidate noted “If my Governor could get a man like Professor Akpan Ekpo, I believe anything is possible. Please let us leave that man alone and not bring politics to him.”
While applauding Governor Udom Emmanuel over the successes of Ibom Air, Nya-Etok called on the State governor to transfer the Jet the State Governor use for travels into the Executive Chattered Section of Ibom Air so as to cut off the huge expenditure used in the maintenance of the aircraft.
He added “I am not a big fan of industrialization. I was against Ibom Air, but today, I am very happy to say that it is an opportunity for good business. If you manage Ibom Air well, you can take advantage of the present situation.”
