Nigerian International, Troost-Ekong Fetes Motherless Children in Uyo

Christmas came early for children of the Mother Charles Walker Home, Uyo as Akwa Ibom born, Nigerian International Soccer star, William Troost-Ekong sent some items comprising bags of rice, beans, noodles, garri, milk, sugar, bathing and washing soaps, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, Sanitary towels, etc to them.

Troost-Ekong, who hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State had visited the center sometime ago in the company of Super Eagles teammate – Leon Balogun to donate a deep freezer and some food items to them and promised to continue supporting the good work ongoing at the center in his own little way. In an apparent fulfillment of that promise, the Watford FC player, undeterred by busy soccer schedules and travel restrictions occasioned by the novel Corona virus pandemic, sent these materials across to the center.

Presenting the items on his behalf, his friend, Mr Raphael Edem said the Watford Fc Player was committed to charity and would continue to partner the Mother Charles Walker Home to provide help and succour to the helpless and needy in the society. Edem, who is the Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Public Affairs, who was accompanied on the visit by a relative of the donor, urged management and the children at the center to continue to offer prayers for the donor, Mr Williams Troost-Ekong.

He elso encouraged the children not to be deterred by whatever circumstances they have found themselves, but to strive to make the best of the succour provided for them by the home to be the best they can in life.

Responding, the Mother in charge of the Center, Rev. Sister Matilda Umanah thanked the donor for his magnanimity and prayed God to continually bless him and grant him a fruitful career.

The Rev sister also seized the opportunity to intimate the visitors of the activities of the Mother Charles Walker Home, exploits made, as well as challenges faced.
