SSCS Okop Eto Ends Sports Meet – as principal-general commends AKSG, calls for more infrastructure

The Principal-General of State Secondary Commercial School, Okop Eto road, Ikot Ekpene, Mr. Nathaniel Akpan has expressed gratitude to the state government in the area of providing infrastructural facilities in the school.
He made this remark last Saturday while declaring open the 2020 finals of the annual Inter-house Sports competition held at the School Sports Arena.
“I wish to thank the government of Akwa Ibom state that has given the school a facelift that we are witnessing today…”, he said.
He also commended the government for massive renovation and appealed for a continuous update, the provision of more facilities especially in the hostel and classrooms owing to an upsurge in students population.
While tasking the government, students and well wishers to help in repositioning the school in sporting activities, the school head also reiterated on the importance of sports in human development.
The week long activities which ran to a climax last Saturday featured over a thousand competitors from 8 houses competing for medals in various events with Blue House emerging first with 521 points, Yellow House came 2nd with 478 points while White House came 3rd with 454 points with other houses trailing.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the function, Sir (Engr.) Akpan commended the school authorities for making sports development a priority and promised his unwavering support to such lofty goal at all times. He donated the sum of N25,000 to the school as his own contribution to the provision of sports facilities in the school.
Also speaking, the Games Master of the school, Mr. Uwem Akpan expressed happiness for the massive response from the students in terms of participation. He intimated the reporter on his big dream about sports in the school and urged the government and sports lovers to help the school attain its projected target as a model school in sports in the state.
