TheMail Reporter Emerges Best Investigative Journalist in Cross River/Akwa Ibom

Ekemini Simon, a reporter with TheMail Newspaper has been crowned as the overall best investigative Journalist for print and electronic media in Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State Councils.

The prize tagged Chief Etim Anwana Mfon Prize was bestowed on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Capital city of Calabar, Cross River State.

The award which was accompanied with N150,000 prize was open for practicing and registered journalists with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) of both Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile, Ekemini Simon has also won several professional awards. Among them include Best Journalist on Open Contract Reporting in Nigeria by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) in 2021. Still in 2021, he emerged joint winner of the Ray Ekpu Investigative Journalism Prize. In 2020, he won the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council 2020 Investigative Reporter of the Year.

Other NUJ awards in his bag are Policy Writer of the year 2019, 2018 Feature Writer of the year, and 2018 and 2016 Health Reporter of the year.
