Uyo Politics: Ndanti Ekuh fetes Ikono II stakeholders

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Elder Ndanti Ekuh has charged stakeholders of ward 11 (former ward 9) in Ikono Clan, Uyo Local Government Area to join hands and mobilize people across the entire ward to register for the permanent voters card in order to be eligible to participate in the upcoming 2023 general election.

The Governor’s Aide stated this on Monday 13th September, 2021 in a stakeholders meeting of the ward held at his instance to fete the Stakeholders at the residence of the Political Leader of the ward, Rt. (Hon) Chief Cyril Ekiko.

Addressing the stakeholders, Ekuh said the meeting was necessitated by the need to ensure that the people of the ward are encouraged and mobilized to go out enmass to register for the Permanent Voters Card and the National Identification Number, maintaining that the current political scenario in the country required wider sensitization of the electorates in the South-South and Akwa Ibom in particular to ensure that they are actively involve in the process of producing quality and People-Oriented leaders from national to state level come 2023.

While calling on the Stakeholders to cooperate in the mobilization of eligible persons for the voters registration, Ekuh stressed that only Love and Unity among the stakeholders can bring progress to the ward, even as he expressed his readiness to work with all the Stakeholders in the ward to change the Political narrative of the ward.

Earlier, Chief Cyril Ekiko thanked the Stakeholders  for coming out for the meeting, noting that the growth of the ward lies in the hands of the Stakeholders, hence, must always come together to chat a way forward for the ward. While thanking Elder Ekuh for the meeting, the Political Leader urged him to join force with the stakeholders in pursuing a common course for the ward.

In his part, the former Chairman of Uyo, Architect Essien Nkanga said the meeting was fruitful as strategic resolutions were made towards ensuring massive Voters registration. He described Elder Ekuh as a respectful and a well trained son of Ikono Clan who has proven his capacity as a two-term Special Assistant to the Governor and prayed God to guide him in the discharge of his duty and take him him to a greater height.

In his words, the Uyo Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Enefiok Udofia said it was necessary for the Stakeholders to meet after so many months to brainstorm on how to move the ward forward, noting that as the Chapter Chairman of the party, his own ward should be exemplary to other wards in Uyo in terms of party membership strength and voters strength.

Also speaking, the former Transition Chairman of Uyo, Barr. Mfon Ben said it will be of a great benefit for the ward to mobilize the people across the nine villages in the ward to register for the voters card and further proffer strategies for the success of the exercise in the ward. He called on Party Officers across the ward to embark on a door-to-door mobilization of people in their respective villages.

In his remarks, the ward Chairman, Mr. Akaninyene Obot thanked all the Stakeholders for turning up for the meeting and appealed for more support to the party at the ward level by the Stakeholders.

Among those who attended the meeting were the Councilor Representing Ikono II, Hon. (Mrs.) Emeti Aniekan who doubles as the Chief Whip of Uyo Legislative Council; Dr. Mrs. Grace Ekpo, Hon. Imoh Ben, Mr. Friday Nkanga among others.
