The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has commenced sale of Nomination Forms for the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State.
State Chairman of the party, Apostle Nyeneime Andy announced this on Thursday, while briefing newsmen at the Party’s Secretariat in Uyo.
He disclosed that the Nomination Form is pegged at N400,000 for House of Assembly, N2million for House of Representatives, N3million for Senate and N10Million for Governorship aspirans, with a fifty percent discount for youths between ages 25 to 40 years.
He further said the forms which can be obtained at the Party’s Secretariat, 164 Aka Road, Uyo, will be issue free to female members of the party willing to stand election.
On whether his party is ready for next year’s elections, Apostle Andy hinted that YPP is well structured, from the state level to various units across the state.
“We have to the wards, to the local government areas, to the units. We are a complete party. We’re not just doing a state thing. We are not novice in this thing. We know how the system runs.
“We want to create opportunities for the youths. We’ve discovered that in other parties, the prices of Nomination Forms are so high and they will pick who they want. We’re creating a platform. We have people who have indicated interest already”, he said.
The YPP Helmsman said his party will swing a surprise in next year’s polls, adding the party is a better option, especially, for Akwa Ibom people.
He described as scary and untrusted the political process in the state and pointed out that YPP will put up generally acceptable aspirants.
“We will swing a surprise in the coming election. We’re in a democratic era and we will ensure we follow democratic principles. YPP is creating a better option especially for the women and for the youths. In our party, we won’t do ‘most preferred’. I want a democratic process, not a theocratic process”, he added.
