11 Days to Election: Eket Fed. House of Reps Candidates Step Down for Eseme Eyiboh

11 Days to the Presidential and National Assembly election, candidates of three political parties contesting for Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno federal constituency seat have withdrawn from the election and declared their support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
The candidates who have withdrawn from the race are, Evang. Emmanuel Itiat, of the Social Democratic Party (SDP),Mr. Gabriel Bassey, of Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Mr. Iniokim Etuk of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The Presidential and National Assembly election is slated for February 25, 2023.
11 Days to the election , the three candidates in a press release made available to newsmen on Tuesday , February 14, 2023 announced their decision to step down for Hon. Eseme Eyiboh stemmed from the need for Eket Federal Constituency to have a ranking member who is capable of giving the people of Eket federal constituency effective representation.
The press release stated “We the undersigned candidates of various political parties for Eket, Esit Eket, Onna, Ibeno federal constituency having consulted widely with our teeming supporters, youths, women and elders in the federal constituency have unanimously and voluntarily decided to sacrifice our interest to contest for the position of House of Representatives in the forthcoming general election in favour of Hon. Eseme Eyiboh of the All Progressives Congress”.
“Our position is informed by the collective desire of the federal constituency to send Hon Eseme Eyiboh back to the National Assembly as a ranking member and for effective representation of our federal constituency”.
The candidates called on their supporters, associates and the entire people of Eket federal constituency to support Eyiboh in the election.
Hon Eyiboh had represented Eket Federal Constituency during the 6th House of Representatives which he was famous for his responsibility as the Spokesperson of the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
He is also the Dean, faculty board of initiatives(a public policy think tank and intellectual platform and constructive legislative engagements)in the lower national legislature; and Speaker of the West African Institute of Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), a regional forum for legislators.
