Gov Umo Eno committed to the completion of Eket International Market – Dr. Ubong Inyang

In a concerted effort to reposition the trade and Investment opportunities in Akwa Ibom, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. Ubong Inyang, has embarked on a facilities tour of the Dakkada Cottage Industries in Itam and the Eket International Market in Eket.
Dr. Inyang alongside the management staff of his ministry visited the sites on Monday, 17, 2025, to inspect the state of things and ascertain what was needed to fast-track the process of revitalization and completion of those projects.
Dr Inyang, while speaking with newsmen shortly after the inspection of the Eket International Market noted that facility was meant to serve as a Investment hub between Akwa Ibom and China, adding that although there are existing bottlenecks hampering the project, the administration of Pastor Umo Eno was committed to having a concrete resolution and pushing for the completion of the projects to foster economic growth.
He said, “We want to establish that His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno is committed to working towards the completion of the Eket International Market in Eket.
“Yes, there are bottlenecks, legal and financial issues but the government is committed to having all issues resolved eventually, and the project will be completed to serve the purposes it was meant for—serving as a trade link between Akwa Ibom and China.
“We want to assure the people of Eket and its environs that the Eket International Market is one of the cardinal projects of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, and it will completed with the hope of putting together this and other warehouses in the State to engineer that trade and Investment opportunity,” Dr Inyang stressed.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Stephen Effiong Ita, also noted that the Eket International Market project is a lofty idea capable of changing the fortunes of the Akwa Ibom people, despite the lingering issues, and expressed optimism that Governor Umo Eno would work things out to enhance the economic growth of our State.
The Commissioner also visited the site of the Dakkada Cottage Industries in Itam, to assess the state of things, all geared towards driving the revitalization program of industrial activities in the State.
Meanwhile, Dr. Inyang stopped by a market in Eket where he interacted with the traders and patronized them with their goods.
