TOA: Revolutionary Smart Hostel Project Set to Transform UNIUYO Students Life

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Titi Oluwadare and Associates, TOA is changing the game for University of Uyo students with a groundbreaking plan

to build with 9,000 bed space capacity smart hostel.

 

This state-of-the-art facility will be fully digitalized, featuring laptops, high speed Internet, e-library services and eco-friendly transportation.

 

Addressing a press conference in Uyo on Thursday, the African Representative and Head of Projects/ Implementation, Amb. Dr Paul Dowells listed other projects to be executed by the group to include: 500 housing project for staff, 400 bed space guests and speednet satelite communication, a technological device that will crash down internet tariff drastically.

 

 

Dowells said the construction of the Smart hostel will commence by September and expected to be commissioned in 18 months.

 

He said that the group had planned to build a palm fruit refinery, rice plantation, and processing plants as well as a cassava plantation processing plant in Akwa Ibom.

 

 

The Head of the Project implementation said the group promotes local content as the projects will be executed by indigenes with a target for massive job creation to complement the state government’s ARISE agenda.

 

He said Akwa Ibom will be the first to own a smart hostel with every modern facility for all students.

 

He noted ”The community will be fully digitalized from the gate, with no vehicles inside, except environmental – friendly ones. Every student will be entitled to all facilities including laptops, sufficient internet connection, which will be powered by Speednet satelite, electronic library services and other unique facilities”

Dowells said the Speednet Technology can only be found in the United States of America and Nigeria, with headquarters in Akwa Ibom.

 

He said the group is completely funded by the resources, pulled together by like minds with a vision to attract foreign students to study in Nigeria.

 

Speaking further, he said God has blessed every local government in  Akwa Ibom with different natural and human resources , while calling for a boost and proper harnessing of potentials to advance sustainable development in the state.

 

Present at the briefing were Engineer Frank Oyewale, Dr. Gordons Henry, Director of Administration, Chief of Staff to the African Representative, Mr. Dominic Okon amongst others.
