Akan Okon vs Umo Eno: Journalists barred from covering court proceedings

Journalists have been barred from covering the ongoing certificate forgery case instituted in the Federal High Court, Uyo by former Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akan Okon against PDP governorship candidate, Mr Umo Eno.

TheMail Newspaper reporter who was at the court as at 8am was denied entry at the gate of the Federal High Court Uyo by agents of Department of State Services (DSS).

Other journalists and observers who arrived later were also turned back by the security agents.

TheMail reports that only parties to the case and their lawyers were allowed entry. Before being granted access into the court, they were identified by someone who is said to be from the court via an already prepared list.

No reason has been given for journalists and observers being denied entry to observe proceedings in what supposed to be an open court session.
