Barring any last minute change, the remains of a retired Deputy Registrar of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Late Sir Dominic Asuquo, KSJI shall be committed to mother earth on Friday, June 18, 2021.
A statement signed by the deceased first son, Mr. Kenneth Asuquo and made available to TheMail, indicates that the former Inspector, Ministry of Local Government in the Cross River State of Nigeria, shall be interred at his country home, Aka Offot, Uyo Local Government Area, after a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Parish, Aka Offot, Uyo.
While alive, the Late Air Dominic Asuquo had served as a classroom teacher and was later appointed Head Master of St. Peter’s Primary School Iba/Nduetong Oku in 1969, a position he held till 1972, when he left for further studies in the United States of America.
He also served as Assistant Registrar, Cross River State Polytechnic, Calabar. While serving in that capacity, he was appointed as Commissioner in Civil Service Commission of Cross River State in April 1984, a position he held till Akwa Ibom State was created.
Information available to this paper also indicates that the Last Sir Asuquo who obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics (B. A. Economics), from the Morehouse College, Atlanta, USA, was a pioneer member of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio and was actively involved in the development of his local community in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is survived by a wife, Mrs Brigid Asuquo, six children, grandchildren and a host of other relatives to mourn his demise.
The deceased family invites Knights of the Sacred Order of St. John, parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish, friends of the family, sympathizers and well wishers to pay their last respect to the departed patriarch.
