Unyime Idem donates 300-seater Class Room Block, e-Learning Centre to AKSU

The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Unyime Idem has handed over a 300-seater capacity six class room block to the management of Akwa Ibom State University.

The Lawmaker also donated a 50-seater capacity e-Learning Centre to the institution.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony at the Obio Akpa Campus of the University, Hon. Idem said the projects stemed from his desire to contribute to the Completion Agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel and promotion of quality education n the state.

“It is the need to support government, further enhance the importance or education that prompted me to donate these projects to the Akwa Ibom State University. It is also my way of contributing to the Completion Agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel”, he said.

Mr. Idem revealed that he has donated similar projects in various schools across the Federal Constituency, including E-learning centres, classroom blocks, as well as VIP toilets.

While thanking his constituents for their support, Hon. Idem urged beneficiaries of the projects to make judicious use of the facilities and take advantage of the numerous benefits they have to offer.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof. Nse Essien, lauded the Federal Lawmaker for his contributions to the development of education in the institution, describing the projects as a welcome dev2.

While also appreciating Gov. Emmanuel for his support to the institution, especially, the recent increment in subvention, Prof. Essien Essien assured that the donated projects will be safeguarded by the management.

Similarly, the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet,while commending the Lawmaker, urged other representatives to emulate the exemplary strides of Hon. Unyime Idem.

As one of his constituents, Mrs Etiebet pointed out that Hon. Idem has justified the confidence bestowed on him by the people, adding it was needful to support him for a second term.

On his part, the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, promised that his administration will continue to prioritiae and provide quality education at various levels in the state.

Represented by the Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, Hon. Elder Aniefiok Nkom, the State Chief Executive expressed satisfaction with the representation of Hon. Idem at National Assembly and appealed to Ukanafun and Oruk Anam people to remain fervent in their support for renowned business tycoon.

Goodwill messages were received from the Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government, Godwin Inyieng, former Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government, Hon. Ubong Idiong, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Oruk Anam State Constituency, Prince Sampson Idiong Political Leader of Ukanafun, Obong Eno Akpan among others.

The event which featured cultural displays, was attended by serving she former political office holders from Ukanafun and Oruk Anam LGAs, Royal Fathers, uniform groups and students of the institution.
