Unyime Idem Raised the Bar in Legislative Business – England Based Scholar, Innocent Udoidiong
The Chief Executive Officer of Innocent Udoidiong Foundation (IUF), Engr. Innocent Udoidiong, an England-based scholar, has eulogized the member representing Oruk Anam/Ukanafun Federal Constituency in the national assembly, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem for what he called his people-oriented style of representation and accomplishments recorded by the lawmaker in the last four years.
Udoidiong, who stated this in a statement made available to newsmen maintained: “Basically, the legislature has three major functions which are: lawmaking in the form of presentation of bills as well as contributions to bills presented; representation by way of attending to the needs of one’s constituents and then oversight functions. This includes committee membership of the lawmaker and what he or she does with the committees in ensuring that Ministries, Departments and Agencies whose committee he or she is a member of, is up to speed in the discharge of its duties. Actually, it is indisputable, and even his opponents can attest that Idem has done the three things creditably,” the statement said.
Describing Idem as a ‘special breed of legislator’, the England-based scholar, who is currently the President of Association of Nigerian Professionals in UK, acknowledged the accomplishments of the lawmaker in the aspects of training and empowerment of youths in various skills, employment of qualified youths, and provision of various life-touching constituency projects, among others.
Udoidiong, who is also a philanthropist with his charitable foundation which he uses to assist vulnerable Nigerians, said he was inspired tremendously by Hon. Idem as the lawmaker is widely known for his humanitarian gestures.
While congratulating him on his inauguration for a second in office, Udoidiong is of the conviction that Idem will not rest on his oars in making sure the people who voted for him are made to enjoy dividends of effective representation.
