USAID State2State Tasks Akwa Ibom MDAs on Conflict Sensitivity, Mitigation

Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government in Akwa Ibom State have been charged to be agents of conflict resolution and mitigation in their discharge of responsibilities.
The admonition came during a two-day Training Workshop organised by the United States Agency for International Development ( USAID)- State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness, (State2State) Activity for priority sectors in Akwa Ibom State held in Uyo on October 4 through October 5, 2022.
In his remarks, the State2State Conflict Specialist for Akwa Ibom State, Cosmos Dinee charged the MDAs to always channel their energies productively in conflict situations for the general good of all.
He called on participants to always express their conflict energy constructively, in such a manner as to produce positive results: peace, unity and good life.
While stressing that development cannot thrive where conflicts persist , Dinee called on participants to always take deliberate effort in resolving conflict through informed dialogue.
Earlier,Mrs Munachi Odulana, CE-CB Specialist of State2State offered insight to the fact that the training was anchored on purpose three of the State 2State activity which is geared towards improving sub national capacity to manage conflicts; improving government and Civil Societies’ capacity to manage conflict; conflict prevention, mitigation and reconciliation with sectoral partners.
She said the training would afford participants insight on best approaches for developing a conflict mitigation strategy plan.
On her part, the Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist, Emaediong Akpan said there is a need to mainstream gender sensitivity in conflict mitigation.
She stressed that when attempting to mitigate conflict, each and everyone must take cognizance of the peculiarities of each gender in order to succeed.
Akpan added that when everyone is carried along, conflict tendencies will be reduced.
